Dentre os causas da depress\u00e3o est\u00e3o o componente gen\u00e9tico (hist\u00f3rico familiar da doen\u00e7a), defici\u00eancias na bioqu\u00edmica cerebral e eventos estressantes. A serotonina, a dopamina e a noradrenalina s\u00e3o algumas das subst\u00e2ncias respons\u00e1veis pelos sentimentos de bem-estar, felicidade, disposi\u00e7\u00e3o, prazer e serenidade. A desregula\u00e7\u00e3o desses neurotransmissores no SNC gera um desequil\u00edbrio hormonal e, ent\u00e3o, surgem sintomas como ins\u00f4nia, tristeza, ansiedade, pessimismo e falta de motiva\u00e7\u00e3o. Quando a depress\u00e3o n\u00e3o \u00e9 tratada, tamb\u00e9m podem ocorrer sintomas f\u00edsicos.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sintomas:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Estado deprimido: sentir-se deprimido a maior parte do tempo;<\/li>\n<li>Aned\u00f4nia: interesse diminu\u00eddo ou <strong>perda de prazer para realizar as atividades de rotina<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>Sensa\u00e7\u00e3o de inutilidade ou culpa excessiva;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dificuldade de concentra\u00e7\u00e3o:<\/strong> habilidade frequentemente diminu\u00edda para pensar e concentrar-se;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Indiferen\u00e7a ao afeto.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Fadiga<\/strong> ou perda de energia;<\/li>\n<li>Dist\u00farbios do sono: ins\u00f4nia ou hipers\u00f4nia praticamente di\u00e1rias;<\/li>\n<li>Problemas psicomotores: agita\u00e7\u00e3o ou retardo psicomotor;<\/li>\n<li>Perda ou ganho significativo de peso, na aus\u00eancia de regime alimentar;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ideias recorrentes de morte ou suic\u00eddio.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Crit\u00e9rios de diagn\u00f3stico:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>De acordo com o n\u00famero de itens respondidos afirmativamente, o estado depressivo pode ser classificado em tr\u00eas grupos;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Depress\u00e3o menor: 2 a 4 sintomas por duas ou mais semanas, incluindo estado deprimido ou aned\u00f4nia;<\/li>\n<li>Distimia: 3 ou 4 sintomas, incluindo estado deprimido, durante dois anos, no m\u00ednimo;<\/li>\n<li>Depress\u00e3o maior: 5 ou mais sintomas por duas semanas ou mais, incluindo estado deprimido ou aned\u00f4nia.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Tratamento:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>O tratamento, em geral, \u00e9 constitu\u00eddo por meio de\u00a0<strong>psicoterapia em conjunto com antidepressivos<\/strong>, com o objetivo de tirar a pessoa da crise. O acompanhamento psicol\u00f3gico, por sua vez, ter\u00e1 por objetivo levantar as causas do problema e suas poss\u00edveis solu\u00e7\u00f5es. Ela \u00e9 fundamental, al\u00e9m de outras muitas coisas, como complemento para os rem\u00e9dios, que podem demorar um tempo para fazer efeito.
